Investing in your future

According to the Natwest Student Living Index 2023, London is not the most expensive city in the UK for students!

It’s also the best student city in the whole world, as rated by current students in the QS Best Student Cities 2025. With some budgeting and planning, it is possible to thrive and make the most of your time living in this exciting city and studying at one of the UK’s top 10 universities.

Your London budget

When studying at postgraduate level, you need to consider the costs of your studies and your living expenses.

Study costs

Each postgraduate degree will have the UK and international tuition fees and any extra potential costs, such as field trips, listed on their web page. These vary per programme and are subject to change each year.

For students who hope to study part-time, the fee shown is for the full-time course. The cost should be calculated on the number of credits you plan to take that year.

Living expenses

On average, we estimate around £1,421 to £2,612 a month is needed to cover living expenses, including accommodation, food, travel and hobbies, entertainment, and wellbeing. You also need to consider any insurance, personal commitments, and lifestyle expenses, so you may find that you will need to budget more, or less, dependent on your own preferences.

International students

If you are an international student, you will also need to think about how much your student visa may cost, and the associated financial requirements to study in the UK on top of your monthly cost of living.
