Rohit is a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Creative Futures. Prior to this he was a senior lecturer at the institute. He is currently senior lecturer at the University of Glasgow and also Commissioner for Social Integration and Equalities in the London Borough of Newham.

Rohit received his doctoral degree in communication and culture from University of the Arts London.
Research
Current research and collaborations
Rohit’s work cuts across several disciplines with particular interests in South Asia, communication and social change, cultural industries, Indian cinema, digital culture, queer identities and politics.
He is the author of Digital Queer Cultures in India: Politics, Intimacies and Belonging (Routledge, 2017) and coauthor of Social media, Sexuality and Sexual Health Advocacy in India (Bloomsbury, 2017); 100 Essential Indian Films (Rowman and Littlefield, 2019), and Queer Studies: Texts, Contexts and Praxis (Orient Blackswan, 2019).
He is currently working on an edited volume titled COVID-19 Assemblages: Queer and Feminist Ethnographies from South Asia (Routledge, 2022) and coauthoring Imagining Imperial Formations: India’s Culture Industry (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, forthcoming).
He is also working on the funded project Framing the Nation: Citizenship, Conflict and the Media in Contemporary India (Funded by the AHRC) with Professor John Downey at Loughborough University (PI) and academic partners at University of Hyderabad.
