Research

Current research and collaborations

Philipp’s current primary research focus is the ‘Globalizing Actors in Multinational Companies’ project, to which he contributed to as a Research Associate. Funded by the ESRC and under Professor Tony Edwards' leadership, the project seeks to investigate how norms—well-established behaviours, beliefs, and processes within organizations — are created, disseminated across borders, and adapted over time. The particular interest lies with the individuals who are responsible for the creation, diffusion, interpretation and negotiation of norms across international operations and the resources they mobilize to help them succeed.

Philipp’s research is located at the intersection of firms and institutions. His work is mostly concerned with institutional change and, in particular, how corporations shape their institutional environment. He has expertise in conducting comparative, longitudinal studies using mixed-methods approaches, including panel data analysis, discourse analysis, and social network analysis.

Interests and activities

Philipp is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) and the International Corporate Governance Society (ICGS). Philipp is passionate about research, and regularly presents his work at international conferences, including SASE, ICGS, and GCIHRM.
