Developing Brand Distinctiveness in Women’s Football Workshop

LDN 102, Loughborough University London

Are you interested in women’s football and its long-term sustainability? So are we! If you are currently working within women's sport for a club, team league or related organisation (brand partner, media outlet or broadcaster, federation etc.) we would like to invite you to our workshop on Developing Brand Distinctiveness in Women’s Football at the Institute for Sport Business based at Loughborough University London.

Over the last six months, a research team within the Institute for Sport Business has been interviewing stakeholders from across the Women’s Super League including commercial directors, operational staff, marketers, broadcasters, and sponsors about the challenge of brand development when connected to an existing men’s team. Based on our findings from these interviews, we are looking to bring stakeholders together from across women’s sport to discuss brand development to share challenges and expertise to provide much needed research on the commercial development of women’s football.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss branding and network with other professionals in women’s sport. The workshop includes food and drink as well as a financial contribution towards travel costs (if required).

Research findings will be shared to key stakeholders and include:

  • Recommendations outlining potential strategic branding opportunities within women’s football
  • Specific initiatives outlining how to develop and enhance brand identity at a club level.
  • Identification of best practices to help the commercial development of women’s football
  • Considerations to support the long-term sustainable growth and independence of women’s football
