My journey to Loughborough University London

I chose to study at Loughborough University London because of its comprehensive programme and location. Loughborough excels in Design Innovation within the art and design field. The course offers a broad and well-structured curriculum, placing significant emphasis on both design practice and management. Furthermore, being situated in London, as the "creative capital," offers the added benefit of quicker access to the latest cultural and innovative advancements.

Teaching at Loughborough University London

During the course I have gained access to the latest interdisciplinary knowledge and developments, which have honed my critical thinking by undertaking strategy and market analysis exercises. The curriculum encourages students to identify and solve problems. Additionally, the design methods and tools provided are instrumental in organizing logic and fostering innovative practices.

I’ve received robust academic support through tutorials and workshops, where tutors provide constructive feedback to guide problem-solving. Additionally, direct engagement with stakeholders, organisations, and corporations has opened doors to future professional opportunities.

Career development

Throughout my master's program at the Loughborough London campus, engaging in collaborative project courses enhanced my creative, strategic, and collaboration skills. The process simulated real-world job proposals. I gained practical opportunities and professional development support, which encouraged me to prioritize reflection and explore new methods and approaches in my subsequent work. This allowed me to deliver better solutions and services.

The Careers Network provides assistance with CVs and job applications. I scheduled a 30-minute 'mock interview' to practice and receive personalized feedback, which was incredibly beneficial and helped build confidence.

Highlights of my time at Loughborough

In 2018, one of my drawings depicting the "Hazlerigg" Building on campus was chosen for the University's annual Christmas card. Additionally, as the Manager of the Loughborough University London Campus Chinese Football Team, I was involved in planning and hosting the First 2019 Loughborough University Football Cup (London Campus). Our team members also delivered outstanding performances during the competition. These diverse roles provided me with various experiences and enabled me to forge numerous friendships, resulting in many cherished memories.

My professional journey

After graduating, I returned to my home country, China and is currently based in Guangzhou where I pursued a role in the industrial investment department at Nanfang Media Group. In this role, I maintain my connection to art and creative design through managing and strategic planning of large-scale digital economy, art, cultural and creative industry projects. I facilitate and coordinate contacts and communications within the industry to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Additionally, I have established a personal social media account as a freelance illustrator, where I showcase original artworks and engage in brand planning, live painting, and design collaboration projects. During my time at Loughborough, I enhanced my creative marketing and strategic skills through proactive learning and project work, providing me with the ability to tackle industry challenges with interdisciplinary design skills.
